Cowes Week 2010 Review

Cowes Week 2010 lived up to all expectations and was something of a triumph for all concerned. I think it’s safe to say that we made an impression, the now iconic fluorescent Gill logo seemed to be taking over the world, or at least Cowes! Check out some great photo’s in our Cowes Week gallery to see what I mean.

With changeable weather conditions and a total of 896 entries, activities on the water were always interesting. When the 8000 or so sailors came ashore they were confronted with only one sensible option, a beer in front of the Gill Stage. The Gill Stage in The Yacht Haven was where it was at, it played host to an array of great live acts late into the night, including the late great Michael Jackson!

Throughout the week the Gill retail tent was a hive of activity, last minute glove purchases to replace the ones left at home or floating in the Solent proved to be a popular purchase. The official Cowes Week range was also flying off the shelves, mainly in the form of the stylish ‘Everyone is Equal’ polo shirt. For those of you who still crave some official Cowes Week gear, fear not, you can still buy it online

The Emirates Team New Zealand competition that we ran throughout the week created a real stir, a truly ‘money can’t buy experience’. The lucky winner has now been chosen; Mr John Howard is the man everybody should be jealous of. More news on this to follow……….

The officials, all decked out in Gill clothing ran the event to perfection, ensuring a good time was had by all. A big thanks goes out to all of them.

Roll on Cowes Week 2011………….
