Simpson Bay, St. Maarten - In a stunning preview of coming attractions, forty-five boats in four spinnaker-flying divisions set sail today in the sparkling waters of St. Maarten to race in the Gill Commodore's Cup, the tune-up event to the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta. The traditional warm-up series is sponsored by Gill, the regatta's official technical apparel supplier.

Simpson Bay, St. Maarten (February 26, 2013) - In a match made in music and yacht racing heaven, race officials for the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta have announced some very special guests will attend this year's Gill Commodore's Cup, the kick-off, tune-up event to take place on February 28. In what is certainly a perfect fit, members of The Commodore's-the iconic, Grammy-winning Motown legends who will headline the prize-giving concert at Kim Sha Beach on March 3rd-will also be on hand to watch the action during the Gill Commodore's Cup.

The Festival of Sails is the largest annual keel boat regatta in the Southern Hemisphere with over 400 yachts and 4300 competitors annually taking part in the event.
